My Christmas break certainly has been different with an interesting journey down with flights to Gove
Gove Airport
Cairns and Sydney then Adelaide.Barbara picked me up and I spent a few days with her and her children at her lovely new home in

One day I took Max on a tram trip to Glenelg, a walk through the Rundle Mall

and even a visit to Barbara's office.

I then went to Karen's.

However I did manage to acquire a really bad chest infection and at one stage I was ready to believe the local doctor when he said I might have pneumonia, although in the event, my X-rays were clear. I am still feeling crook and hope that by next week will be feeling better although I will be heading back to the Northern Territory by then!
After two days of bed rest I pleaded to take a drive to get some sun and we went bird watching at Para Wirra.

On the Sunday I went with son Dave to briefly visit my brother Tony and Joey who rescue sick and injured fauna. This kangaroo was sunning itself in the backyard whilst Joey (Daphne) bottle fed a much younger baby kangaroo inside. I took them a framed copy of my most viewed photograph, "Hopping Mice" Click here to see it!

Karen was joined by her sister Ann and niece Sam from Victoria and were good company including a Christmas evening picnic on the lounge room floor!

There was much fun with the Kris Kringle gift parcel.
Hugh was first to get this barbecue pack but in the end lost it to somebody else and it seems that almost all of us had it in our hands for just a minute or two

Sunday morning at Crocodylus

Hugh and I took the opportunity to visit the strange amalgam of a tourist attraction that is Crocodylus.
I still think its an overpriced tourist attraction, although it has a special discount price at the moment for locals. Its a crocodile research facility, the museum about crocodiles is good. As for the main part with crocodiles in pens, with others being made to jump to eat chicken carcasses and a keeper stirring them up to make them be a little too active and gaffer taped baby crocodiles

while you have a photo taken....,
well I can take or leave that circus type activity.
Hugh noticed this crocodile lose a tooth biting down on the pen after a staff member agitated the water to force it to surface on the slide.

An as for the rest of the park with some very tired old circus lions,

Lady lions
tigers,
Wet Tiger
leopards and a handful of Australian creatures like emus, wallaroos and Agile
wallabies

I regard this as rather an afterthought and all a bit out of scope..
I still recommend the Territory Wildlife Park for value for money as a tourist facility albeit further for people to travel..

I spotted this Magpie Lark (or Peewee) mud nest in rather a dangerous position on a wire over a crocodile pen.

The lions were sleeping most of the time, but eventually the lion opened its eyes and decided it was time for a cuddle.

Saturday morning at Parap market

This is a popular market on a Saturday morning at Parap. Hugh often has his breakfast there. Lots of colour, lots of nice food.
