Darwin Sailing Clubs Annual Presentation night

I was asked to take photographs for the Darwin Sailing Clubs Annual Presentation Night celebrating the 2007 racing season. These are a few of the over 300 I shot over 4 hours.... relax, I won't include them all!

After the presentations and dinner it was time to dance for those with the energy or to stand on the cliff tops and get the sea breeze

Friday evening and Saturday morning

Hugh and I enjoyed the cool breezes at the Darwin Sailing Club on Friday evening.

On Saturday morning we walked to the local primary school to vote and I spotted this lizard called locally a Ta-Ta also known as a Gilbert's Dragon Lophognathus gilberti

Visit to Palmerston campus

I needed to spend an hour or so at the Palmerston campus on Thursday.
Its such an attractive campus although sadly the resident goannas seem to have fallen to poisoning by eating Cane Toads

I cannot get much closer! Moths eye view of gecko.

Update on Cicadas

I discovered this tonight... A couple of empty nymphal skins from Cicada
on one of our garden trees


Its interesting to read that Cicada live under ground in the nymph stage for 6-7 years then come above ground, leave their empty nymphal skin on a tree and then have a short life as an adult living then only a few weeks.See this link for more information.

Storm on the way home

Hugh was working today at Window on the Wetlands[see this link] so I met him there for lunch. I met his workmate Wendy.




On the way home we had to drive through
some spectacular thunderstorms.

Saturday morning at Fogg Dam

Its been quite a while and because its been wet recently it was time to again to take a look at Fogg Dam.

The usual suspects, Rainbow Bee Eaters, Crimson Finches, Egrets,
Jacana I even spotted two Broglas flying high above.




The flowers, Lotus , Water Lillies were colourful

Noisy and big

This Cicada came inside the house briefly until we showed it the door.
