A trip to Stokes Hill Wharf

Spent Good Friday evening at Stokes Hill Wharf. It seemed that most of Darwin was there.

Dave enjoyed chargrilled barramundi. There was a quite spectacular sunset illuminating a storm cloud.

The Moon also made for good images.

Daves trip to Fogg Dam, Cooroboree and the Termite Mounds

Dave and I, along with Pauline spent the morning out at Fogg Dam. Besides the usual suspects (Royal Spoonbills, Pied Herons,Kites and Rainbow Bee-Eaters.




etc today we saw Jabiru
a turtle,


and a pair of mating goanna's!
We then went to the tavern at Cooroboree, bumped into "Poo", the possum owner and I showed Dave the Termite mounds

I was delighted last week that the Darwin ABC weather segment ran my photo of Cullen Bay sunset!

The library at CDU

I took a few shots around the outside of the library yesterday


and discovered a goanna on the lawns which then strode away sticking its long tongue out

Singapore, what a place!

My son Dave, is coming up from Adelaide tomorrow and we are going to Singapore for a holiday. He sent me a great link which is a slide show of images of Singapore . I would like to share this wonderful city with you.Check out this link to see it.

Sunday outing with the Newmans

I returned to my favourite weekend location Fogg Dam, with Peter Newman, his partner Louise and baby son David.

As usual plenty of birds and flowers and dragonflies to see including this pair of Rainbow Bee-eaters ,


There was another keen photographer as well!
Louise and I went for walk in the forest and boardwalk area.

There are just a few Lotus and Water Lily flowers left

A wet trip to the Territory Wildlife Park

On her last day and after a good lunch with friends at the Cornucopia Cafe, I took Karen out to the Territory Wildlife Park. It was bucketing down with a monsoon shower, especially as we walking out through the Monsoon Forest area! Here is a very wet Karen waiting to be transported back to the main station area.

We did get to see the fantastic avaries and the aquarium and a guide stopped the minibus to show us this Wedgetailed Eagle.

Karen, Pauline, her cousin Michael from the UK and I enjoyed yet another meal out at the Darwin Sailing Club and its sunset views.

This was quite a delighful bird to snap out of the car window. It's a Rainbow Bee-eater.

Saying farewell to Karen

Jessie and Rod were wonderful hosts for a gathering of workmates to wish Karen all the best for her surgery and leave.

Next day Karen and I went out to Fogg Dam and again saw things we had never seen out there before. There was this juvenile Fresh Water crocodile at the waters edge.

And of course the usual birdlife like this young kite. and an Egret , with plenty of Royal Spoonbills

A 'wake' with a friend

During my quick visit to Adelaide I spent time with old friends including Rachel and Martin.This was another evening meal with Terry and Pam.
It was good for people to spend time with me, my workmates in Darwin have also been kind.

A sad occasion, but amongst family

I had to take a quick trip home to Adelaide when my mother died after a long history of illness. This is my youngest brother Michael with Pam after the service.

Pam and David sent me this photo of Mum's resting spot in the rose gardens at Centennial Park.

Usually see some of these at Yellow Waters, plenty of warnings at Ubirr and Fogg Dam.

Also enjoying the fishing were many Whistling Kites.

The light was failing, but it was an opportunity to grab, the Royal Spoonbill looked great in flight.
