We spent the morning traveling around looking at cd's etc, thence to Orchard Road and then to Little India as Dave was chasing some Hindi film DVD's and he was quite successful at the very first shop amongst many. I snapped again some of the local colour.
Later this afternoon Dave and I visited for the first time the famous Singapore Thieves Market at Sungei Road which was great fun.
Dave had fun literally crate diving for vinyl records and came away with some great finds.
I was looking for things electronic and was happy with some purchases.
I got another view of the interesting office building from yesterday.
Dinner was at at nice Italian restaurant we tried a few nights ago ,the Trattoria Lafiandra at the lovely colonial Singapore Art Museum complex on Bras Basah Road.
Our pizza was ok although other reviews have not been good see this one and also this other negative one we were charged a lot for our two Tiger Beers S$14.50 each.I have eaten at the same complex before but this was a different menu etc.

Night time in Singapore.
Dave and I had a meal tonight in what I guess you could call the Arab Quarter. I noticed this building last night on North Bridge Road (I think) and was amazed at the architecture. It looks like a flat surface, almost a facade, yet there is a real building, just some very sharp architecture!
Dave checked out this secondhand vinyl record store:

Night out on the town
We met Philip Keane, had a Singapore Sling at S$22 each... ouch at Raffles, a first and last for us all and then took a long walk to Clarke Quay where touts just about ripped our arms off to entice us to eat at their riverside restaurants. There were peanuts on the table, for which we got charged and also got charged for the disposable wipes also on table. Not impressed with the meals at all. Don't bother eating at the House of Crab.
Philip joined us in our room and we knocked off the bottle of Hugo shiraz,

Jurong Bird Park...
Today Dave and I went out to Jurong Bird Park, a perennial favourite for me. Dave had not been, but it was a bit busy as its Singapore school holidays. We had a ride on what they call a Panorail (read monorail), did a fair bit of walking and snapped a few images. The Macaws are always worth a few shots!!
This ws the first time I have seen a Shoebill.
Also having got soaked yesterday we avoided the afternoon storm which was brewing big time and escaped back to the CBD in a taxi.
On the way back to the hotel we dropped into the Suntec City complex and noticed the Keith Haring poster, interesting as I saw a mural of his in Melbourne a few weeks ago
Tonight its a meal with Philip Keane from the IMVS/Royal Adelaide who coincidentally is also in Singapore. We plan to have drink at Raffles then go to Clarke Quay

Trip to Tiger Land
Dave and I went out to near Sentosa today to see Tiger Live, which is a newish feature attraction giving the history and a taste of Tiger Beer. We had our very own tour guide and then got to pour our own beers.
Then we went back to Orchard Road, were drowned in a storm and had to buy(honestly!!) new clothes as we were wet through and very cold as the store air conditioners made us freeze!!
Saw this guy making noodles at the Paragon Plaza food court.
Then a trip to the Hyatt to Mezza9, an expensive but interesting restaurant

Monday....
We also have walked past the National Library a lot!
Today Monday we have spent time around the Funan Plaza looking at electronics and computer gear and I had fun looking at preloved camera gear in what is a photographers haven, the triangle of the Adelphi Plaza the Peninsula Plaza and the Peninsula Hotel all near North Bridge Road. To quote a forum "The Camera Workshop, Camera Exchange, Alan Photo, K-13, Alex Photo and the two shops in Adelphi are all the known second hand camera shops in Singapore."
The guy in a store called Prime Camera Centre had a really good deal for me....
Then a trip in the evening to Little India..

Spiritual abundance at Casuarina Library!
This morning our library was in good hands when we had 6 Mormon missionaries on our public access computers as well as a Buddhist monk in the library. They all appreciated with good humour the religious coincidence!
