5th ALIA Top End Symposium - e-volving education

A great networking opportunity for local library staff as well as some interstate speakers held for the first time at Darwin's Sky City Casino.







After a Welcome to Country from Larrakia Nation Elder - Alderman Dorothy Fox, The Honourable Austin Asche AC QC gave a witty opening speech.







This theme of this year's symposium, "e-volving education", will focus on the changing ways in which the library and information industry promotes learning and the evolution of how the library industry maintains its own "education" in ensuring that its professionals stay on top of information trends.

Jessie and Rod invited colleague Sharon and myself out to their property at Howard Springs for a Sunday evening meal. As usual the garden looked a treat and it was nice also to catch up with dear old Annie the Golden Retriever. She is looking good for her 15 + years.

Victor Kovalenko, the head Yachting Australia High Performance Coach, and coach
of the Olympic team, visited the Darwin Sailing Club on Friday night
Members of the management committee had an opportunity to meet Victor
for a quick informal gathering.
The Club also arranged for the YNT Development squad to also be present to meet with
Victor.I was asked this week to take photos at the club and it was a pleasure to do so.
